Cam Girl Tip: Tracking Your Money

One of the most important things when it comes to being a cam girl or being in business in general, is knowing exactly how much you're earning so that you know how close or far away you are from your desired income goal. Here are a few tips for tracking and increasing your earnings.

make money webcam modeling1.  Calculate your per hour rate.
When you sign on cam, note the time. After one hour has passed, pause, and take note of how much you earned in that hour. Some hours you may make nothing, while others you may be in and out of private chat and the tippers are making it rain. Regardless, just write down how much you make each hour you're online.

2. Calculate your free chat/paid chat ratio.
Here you are looking to see, out of one hour in free chat, how many minutes do you spend in paid chat, on average. So again, each hour, write down how many minutes you spent in paid chat during that hour. Let's say after 4 hours of camming, you clock a total 60 minutes of actual paid time. 60 minutes divided by 240 minutes equals 0.25. So that means you spend 25%, 15 minutes, of every hour in paid chat.

3. Calculate your average private time length
It's helpful if you're on a site that does this for you, some do. If you're not, you can do it manually. Write down how many private shows you do in a given hour and how long the session lasted. At the end of the hour take the # of minutes divide by the # of private shows you did that hour. So 20 minutes of private / 3 private sessions equals an average of about 7 minutes.

4. Check your timing
Note the time of day, and day of the week. Then you'll be able to look back to see if a specific day or time is especially dead or profitable. For example, if you serve a lot of military clients, you may notice a spike in your activity on the evening before, on and after, the 1st and the 15th, military paydays. You may even notice that one of those days is better than the other.

5. Check the client
Keep track of your regulars, your big spenders, your small spenders, your tippers only, etc. Keep track of those screen names. You may discover that even though "bigdickhasselhof" never takes you private, he contributes 60% of the tips you get each week. Or maybe "kingdingaling" only goes private for 5 minutes, but he does that with you 4 times a week, consistently.

So to recap, in your webcam modeling journal or notebook you will be writing down:
make money work as a webcam model
1. The Date & Time (Thursday, November 29th, 2012 at 3pm)

2. Your private show client(s) (JerseyMike)

3. How long each private session lasts. (JerseyMike 12 minutes)

4. Your free/paid chat ratio and average private session length ( 3pm - 4pm: 22 minutes 28 seconds; 37%).(22.28 mins / 7 sessions = 3.18 mins avg).

5. Your rate per hour (3pm - 4pm: $44.56 in private chat; $10 in tips)

6. Overall average rate per hour (3pm - 7pm: $113.50 / 4 hours = avg $28.38/hr)

7.  Overall average minutes per hour (3pm - 7pm: 45.25 minutes / 4 hours = 11.3 minutes avg per hour)

The longer and more consistently you track this information, the more reliable your numbers will be. Once you have all this information, you can adjust your pricing and timing accordingly. If you know you're doing 11 minutes of private time and $5 in tips per hour, average, then set your cost per minute based on your awareness of this information or you can keep all things as they are, but with this awareness, you now know how much you need to earn from video clip sales, affiliate commissions, tips, gifts, etc. in order to get to your desired income goal.

You may have heard the saying, "What you focus on expands", so take the time to focus on your earnings, find what's working, where you can improve and watch how things start to expand!
